Its Christmas Eve. While the toys are in playing, the mice come invading. A little girl caught in the middle, with her recently gifted nutcracker serving as her protector. This book is a lovely little retelling of the classic 1816 short short The Nutcracker and the Mouse King by E. T. A. Hoffmann, which inspired the ballet by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
